The style began in the 1920's, being first exhibited at the 1925 Paris exhibition, 'Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes.'
It then continued to the outbreak of the Second World War when the style was considered too ostentatious for the bleak conditions of a global conflict.
However, Art Deco is a style that's aged very well and still looks fantastic in all sorts to locations to this day. So you could argue that the Art Deco period never really ended!
